Auckland Central Apartment Refurbishment

Understated Elegance in the Heart of the City. A Queen Street apartment is reimagined as a refined, character-filled retreat for entertaining and relaxation. This apartment refurbishment sits high above the buzz of Queen Street in Auckland City, within an existing building that had seen better days.

A brief built around entertaining and timeless style

When we first visited, it was clear the space needed a complete transformation, both in form and function. Our clients love to entertain and wanted a home that felt inviting, timeless, and refined. With a strong appreciation for British vintage design, they sought a classic aesthetic with a sense of history and comfort.

A full strip-back, rebuilt around what was already there

The apartment was fully stripped back and completely relined. New flooring was carefully installed around existing structural elements, fire services, and plumbing — all while maintaining a clean, cohesive finish. The design brief called for understated elegance, with every element chosen to enhance, not overpower, the space.

Joinery and fixed fittings, designed around a cherished collection

A key part of the design was integrating the clients’ cherished collection of vintage furniture and artwork into the architecture itself. Bespoke cabinetry, fixed lighting, and joinery were designed to complement and showcase these pieces, creating a seamless blend of old and new. The result is a sophisticated inner-city apartment that celebrates the owners’ style while offering warmth, function, and enduring charm.
