Driftwood

Opito Bay

The perfect escape from busy city life, this calming haven on the Opito Bay beach line, was built for a couple who spend half their time in Auckland and the other half at the bach. A stunning house they enjoy all year round that’s suits two people but is also big enough for the wider family during holidays.

Though the living areas are open plan, spaces achieve definition through changing ceiling heights that make them more inviting. A stellar kitchen with a pleated origami island bench stars in a double height void where a gallery balcony looks down from upstairs. There’s a generous stud height over the dining area and the adjacent living area has a 3.6 metre stud. Interior colours and materials reflect the natural beach surroundings in soft grey, whites and oak timber. We introduced orange and red in furnishings and accessories that subtly link spaces throughout. By selecting furniture, lightfittings, artwork and soft furnishings we created a cohesive ambience that makes this home a delight.
