This Auckland state house has undergone a significant renovation and extension by Rogan Nash Architects. The design includes the addition of a new pavilion (with open-plan living, dining and kitchen) at the rear of the house and the original home has been altered to contain just bedrooms and bathrooms. There is also a new connecting gallery, offering a laundry and additional storage. This clever planning allows the home to function perfectly for entertaining in the new pavilion, while younger members of the family can be asleep in the original part of the home. The renovation increased the number of bedrooms, made better use of the site and also encourages flow from inside the house to the newly landscaped garden outside.
